The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) conducted an investigation into Cadbury products following allegations that some of its chocolate items contained pork DNA. This inquiry was prompted by earlier reports suggesting that unscheduled checks had detected the presence of pig DNA in Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Roast Almond. In response to these claims, JAKIM tested a total of 11 samples from various Cadbury products sourced from the company's factory. The results of these tests indicated that none of the samples contained any traces of pork DNA, effectively clearing the brand of the allegations. This outcome was crucial for Cadbury, as the initial claims had led to significant public concern and a boycott of its products in Malaysia, a country with a predominantly Muslim population where the consumption of pork is prohibited.
