A large Kushite force advanced northward with the objective of attacking Qasr Ibrim. In response to this threat, Petronius mobilized his troops and successfully reached Qasr Ibrim to strengthen its defenses prior to the Kushite arrival. The Kushite forces launched an attack on Primis, which is identified with Qasr Ibrim. Following this military engagement, the Kushites opted to send ambassadors to negotiate a peace settlement with Petronius. The negotiations were fruitful, resulting in favorable terms for both parties. This diplomatic resolution led to an increase in trade between the Kushites and the Roman-Egyptian territories. Furthermore, the Roman-Egyptian border was extended to include Hiera Sykaminos, also known as Maharraqa. This agreement established a framework for peace that would endure for several centuries, effectively ensuring stability in the region for approximately 300 years. The successful defense of Qasr Ibrim and the subsequent peace negotiations highlight the importance of military preparedness and diplomacy in maintaining regional stability during this period.
