Akila worked and trained with maritime archaeologists at the Galle Heritage Project, gaining hands-on experience in underwater exploration and the recovery of sunken archaeological artifacts. His work involved assisting with dive operations, documenting submerged cultural material, and supporting conservation workflows. This training deepened his understanding of Sri Lanka’s maritime heritage and introduced him to specialized techniques used in underwater archaeology and artifact preservation.
