The Strait of Hormuz crisis began on 28/02/2026, when coordinated airstrikes by the United States and Israel targeted Iranian military and nuclear facilities in an operation known as Operation Epic Fury. The strikes were carried out across multiple locations in Iran and included attacks on air defenses, missile infrastructure, and leadership targets. According to reports, nearly 900 strikes were conducted within the first 12 hours of the operation. During the attacks in Tehran, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, along with several senior Iranian officials, marking one of the most consequential leadership losses in the country since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
