On 22 November 2022, The Wilson Bohannan Company was granted U.S. Patent No. 11,505,968 for a shrouded padlock invented by William B. Tway. The design uses an extended portion of the lock body to surround and protect much of the shackle, reducing its exposure while retaining the familiar operation of a mechanical padlock.
The patent developed the shrouded-lock work undertaken at our Marion, Ohio, operation during the early 2020s. It formed part of our continuing development of specialty mechanical security products, including the New Legacy range, more than 160 years after Wilson Bohannan received his first padlock patent.
