On 14 July 2018, Howard Smith was inducted into the Lock Collectors Hall of Fame during the Lock Collectors Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. Howard had joined Wilson Bohannan in the accounting department in 1973 and became company president in 1995. His induction recognised a career of more than four decades with the business and his contribution to the lock industry.
By the time of the induction, family ownership had continued into another generation. Howard's daughters, Patricia Kozlik and Sarah Rassell, were identified as owners of Wilson Bohannan, while members of the extended family represented the seventh generation connected with the company. Their involvement continued the family ownership established by Wilson Bohannan in 1860 while manufacturing remained based in Marion, Ohio.
