During the 2000s, we continued modernising production at our Marion, Ohio, plant by bringing more manufacturing processes in-house and investing in advanced machining technology. This included CNC equipment and high-speed multi-spindle machines capable of producing precision lock components efficiently and with greater flexibility. Our engineering operation also developed in-house systems supporting padlock and manufacturing-equipment design. The investment supported a broader effort to maintain domestic production while controlling more of the manufacturing process ourselves. Industry reporting describes Wilson Bohannan bringing previously outsourced components in-house and using CNC multi-spindle and rotary-transfer equipment to produce families of lock parts. These capabilities became an important part of the modern Marion operation and allowed us to combine higher-volume production with the flexibility required for specialised customer orders.
