On 7 March 2018, we announced three new ways to travel in Economy: Economy Light, Economy Classic and Economy Delight. The changes gave passengers more choice over the price of their ticket and the services included, representing our biggest revision to the Economy offering in more than a decade. Each fare was designed around different travel needs. Economy Light offered a lower-priced option for passengers travelling with hand baggage only, with checked luggage available for an additional charge. Economy Classic included a checked bag and complimentary advance seat selection. Economy Delight added a seat with 34 inches of pitch, priority check-in and boarding, alongside the baggage and seat selection benefits of Classic. All three options retained complimentary meals, drinks and inflight entertainment. We also invested in additional extra-legroom seats, USB charging points and airport self-service facilities as part of a wider £300 million customer experience programme. The changes allowed us to offer more differentiated fares without removing the core onboard services provided to Economy passengers. The new fares were developed in coordination with our transatlantic joint venture partner Delta Air Lines. Economy Light, Classic and Delight aligned broadly with Delta's Basic Economy, Main Cabin and Comfort+ products, helping passengers understand their options when travelling across the two airlines' networks. The three fares became available for booking later in March 2018.
