On 30 March 2016, we announced a new codeshare partnership with British regional airline Flybe, expanding access to our long-haul network for passengers travelling from regional airports across the United Kingdom and Europe. The agreement allowed customers to book connecting journeys through Virgin Atlantic, combining Flybe's short-haul services with our international flights from Manchester, Glasgow and London Gatwick.
From 2 April 2016, the partnership offered connections from 18 UK and European airports, including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Belfast City, Exeter, Amsterdam and Paris Charles de Gaulle. Passengers could travel on a single booking and check their baggage through to their final destination, reducing the need for separate check-in arrangements when transferring between the two airlines. The agreement improved access to long-haul destinations including Orlando, Las Vegas, Barbados and several major US cities.
For Virgin Atlantic, the partnership extended our reach into regional markets without introducing our own short-haul services. It also supported our growing operations at Manchester, providing more convenient connections for passengers travelling from outside London. By combining Flybe's regional network with our long-haul routes, we offered customers a wider choice of departure airports and more straightforward journeys to international destinations.
