In 2017, we joined Virgin Holidays in supporting Pride celebrations in London and Brighton, demonstrating our public support for LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion. The events provided opportunities to celebrate LGBTQ+ communities, engage our people and stand alongside those campaigning for equal rights and acceptance. London's Pride parade took place on 8 July 2017, during a year that marked the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales. Brighton & Hove Pride followed on 5 August, with Virgin Holidays entering a float in the community parade. Colleagues took part in the Brighton celebrations, bringing our support for inclusion into a public event attended by people from across the UK. The activity reflected work already under way within Virgin Holidays. In 2016, the business had introduced a three-year programme aimed at making travel more inclusive for LGBTQ+ customers and improving understanding of the challenges they could face on holiday. Our participation in Pride formed part of that wider effort to create a welcoming environment for employees and customers.
