On 17 May 1994, we launched our daily service between London and San Francisco, expanding our transatlantic network and establishing a direct connection to Northern California. The new route added another major US destination to our growing international operations, complementing our existing services to cities including New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Boston. The launch provided passengers with an additional choice for travel between the UK and the San Francisco Bay Area, an important centre for business, technology and tourism. To introduce the service, we offered a promotional return fare of £299, reflecting the competitive transatlantic airline market at the time. San Francisco became an established destination within our North American network, extending our presence on the US West Coast beyond Los Angeles and strengthening our connections between London and California.
