In 1886, John S. Pemberton, a pharmacist in Atlanta, created a carbonated soft drink that would later become known as Coca-Cola. Dr. Pemberton's bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, came up with the name and wrote it in the now famous Spencerian script. The drink was sold at Jacobs' Pharmacy for five cents a glass. The founding of Coca-Cola marked the beginning of a global beverage empire. Asahi, one of the first bottlers of Coca-Cola outside the U.S., started bottling operations in Japan. Coca-Cola's iconic logo and branding became instantly recognizable around the world. Coca-Cola's secret formula was not patented, but closely guarded as a trade secret. In 1891, Asa Candler bought exclusive rights to the formula and led the marketing effort that would make Coca-Cola one of the world's most recognized brands. Today, Coca-Cola is sold in over 200 countries and territories and is one of the most valuable brands in the world. The company has diversified its product line to include various beverages and expanded into other markets, including sports drinks, juices, and bottled water. #CocaCola #GlobalBrand #IconicLogo #TradeSecret #BeverageEmpire
