Pentagon Illuminates Tower of Light to Mark 20th Anniversary of 9/11

On September 11, 2021, the Pentagon commemorated the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with a powerful memorial illumination known as the Tower of Light. Brilliant beams of light rose into the night sky above the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, creating a striking tribute visible from the White House in Washington, D.C. The installation honored the 184 people who lost their lives when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. The illuminated sky symbolized remembrance, national unity, resilience, and the enduring commitment to honoring the victims and their families. The memorial display formed part of the Pentagon's 20th-anniversary commemorations, which included remembrance ceremonies, military tributes, and the reading of victims' names. The Tower of Light served as a visible reminder of the tragedy and its lasting significance in American history.
