The Anthology project was initiated to document the history of The Beatles, showcasing their journey through their own narratives. This extensive project included a television miniseries, an eight-volume video set, and three box sets comprising two CDs and three LPs, all featuring artwork by Klaus Voormann. The project not only provided insights into the band's evolution but also included the release of previously unreleased recordings. Notably, producer Jeff Lynne collaborated with Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr to enhance demo recordings made by John Lennon in the late 1970s. This collaboration led to the release of two new singles, 'Free as a Bird' and 'Real Love', which were well-received by fans and critics alike. A third demo, 'Now and Then', was also attempted but ultimately abandoned due to its poor audio quality. The Anthology project was commercially successful, with the television series alone attracting an estimated 400 million viewers worldwide, highlighting the enduring popularity of The Beatles and their music.
