On April 23-24, 2009, Barbados and Suriname took a significant step towards enhancing their bilateral relations by establishing a Joint Commission in Paramaribo, Suriname. This initiative aimed to foster cooperation across various sectors, including agriculture, trade, investment, and international transport. The formation of the Joint Commission was a continuation of the commitment made in the 2005 Agreement for the deepening of bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Following the inaugural meeting, representatives from both countries convened again on March 3-4, 2011, in Dover, Barbados, to further discuss and review the progress of their collaborative efforts. The meetings underscored the importance of strengthening ties and exploring new avenues for mutual benefit, reflecting a shared vision for economic growth and development. The ongoing dialogue between Barbados and Suriname highlights their dedication to building a robust partnership that can adapt to the evolving global landscape.
