García of the Good Laws, an influential figure in the history of Spain, passed away on February 5, 1017. After his death, his young son García Sánchez of Castile took over as the new count of Castile and Álava. However, due to his young age, Urraca of Covarrubias, García's aunt and Fernández's daughter, was appointed as regent and acted on his behalf. She worked closely with the Castilian nobility to ensure a smooth transition of power and maintain stability within the kingdom. #Spain #GarcíadeLasBuenasLeyes #MedievalHistory #Regency #TransitionofPower
