Start of First Uprising against Ottoman Empire

The First Serbian Uprising began when Serbian leaders, previously loyal to the Ottoman Empire, revolted against their occupants. The context of this event lay in four centuries of Ottoman domination, which had seen the Serbian people subjected to significant hardship and political repression.
