Rwandan Community Encouraged to Adopt Rainwater Harvesting Practices for Sustainable Water Management

In 2015, Rwanda made significant strides in promoting rainwater harvesting as a sustainable solution to combat water scarcity. The Rwandan government, in collaboration with various stakeholders, initiated programs aimed at encouraging households and communities to adopt rainwater harvesting techniques. These initiatives are particularly focused on improving water availability in rural areas, where access to traditional water sources is often limited. The government has facilitated the construction of rainwater harvesting systems, provided training programs for local communities, and launched awareness campaigns to educate the public on the benefits of this practice. Additionally, financial and technical support has been made available to ensure the successful implementation of these systems.
