Localised strikes occurred across the UK, beginning in June and increasing in frequency throughout the summer. These strikes were primarily driven by dissatisfaction among workers regarding Royal Mail's inability to secure a national agreement that would address critical issues such as job protection, pay, and working conditions. The Communication Workers Union (CWU) responded to these concerns by initiating a national ballot for industrial action in September. This ballot aimed to gauge the support of workers for potential strikes in response to the ongoing disputes with Royal Mail management. The results of the ballot indicated strong support for action, leading to the decision to proceed with strikes in October. Consequently, a series of two- and three-day strikes were organized, reflecting the workers' determination to advocate for their rights and improve their employment conditions. The strikes highlighted the growing tensions between the workforce and management, emphasizing the need for negotiations to resolve the underlying issues affecting employees.
