Elinor Bettina Frost, the sixth and final child of American poet Robert Frost and Elinor Miriam White, was born on 18/06/1907 at the Frost family farm in Derry, New Hampshire. Her birth came during a period when the family was living in relative isolation while Robert Frost managed the farm and continued writing poetry. The couple had already experienced personal losses and health challenges among their children, and the arrival of another child was recorded in family and biographical accounts of the period.
Elinor Bettina Frost died on 21/06/1907, approximately three days after her birth. Sources indicate that the cause of death was hemophilia, a rare bleeding disorder and especially uncommon in female infants. Her brief life is documented in Frost family biographies and archival records, noting that she was buried in the family plot in Lawrence, Massachusetts. The loss added to a sequence of family tragedies that later biographers identified as part of the difficult personal circumstances surrounding Robert Frost’s early career years.
