On 08/12/2022, the first three episodes of the six-part Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan were released, marking the debut of a major production from Archewell Productions, the media company founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Directed by Academy Award nominee Liz Garbus, the series presented a detailed account of the couple’s relationship and their experiences within and beyond the British royal family.
The initial volume focused on the early stages of Prince Harry and Meghan’s relationship, including their private courtship, which they kept largely out of the public eye before their engagement was announced in 2017. Through interviews and previously unseen personal footage, the episodes documented how their relationship developed alongside increasing media attention. The series also included reflections on the pressures they faced from tabloid coverage and public scrutiny during this period.
In addition to personal narratives, the docuseries incorporated commentary on broader themes such as media practices and the challenges of maintaining privacy while in the public spotlight. Prince Harry spoke about his upbringing within the royal family and the impact of past experiences on his approach to public life. The first volume set the context for the later episodes, which were released on 15/12/2022 and explored the events leading to the couple’s decision to step back as working members of the royal family in 2020.
