In February 2019, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, undertook a three-day official visit to Morocco at the request of the British government. The tour took place from 23/02/2019 to 25/02/2019 and marked their final overseas engagement before the birth of their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, later that year.
The visit focused on themes including education, gender equality, youth empowerment, and social inclusion. During their time in Morocco, the couple visited a boarding house for girls in the Atlas Mountains, where they observed initiatives aimed at improving access to education for young women in rural areas. Meghan Markle participated in activities with students and spoke about the importance of education in creating opportunities. In Rabat, the couple also met young entrepreneurs and athletes, highlighting programs that support youth development and leadership.
The tour included engagements addressing inclusivity and mental health, including visits to organizations supporting children with special needs. Prince Harry and Meghan also attended official receptions and meetings with Moroccan officials, strengthening diplomatic and cultural ties between the United Kingdom and Morocco.
The trip was widely covered by international media and formed part of their official duties as senior working members of the royal family. It also came at a time when Meghan Markle was in the later stages of her pregnancy, drawing additional public attention to the visit.
