The Patek Philippe Ref. 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon is one of the most remarkable wristwatches ever produced by the Swiss luxury manufacturer Patek Philippe, first introduced in 2001 as the brand’s most complicated wristwatch. This double-dial, manually wound mechanical watch features an astounding 12 complications and 686 components, including a minute repeater with tourbillon escapement, perpetual calendar with retrograde date, moon phases, and sidereal time. The front dial displays mean solar time, calendar functions, and moon phase, while the reverse showcases an astronomical sky chart of the northern hemisphere and sidereal time indications. Each piece was extremely limited, produced at a very low rate (around 3–5 per year), making it highly coveted by collectors. The Ref. 5002 remained Patek Philippe’s most complicated wristwatch until superseded by later models and set benchmarks in precision, craftsmanship, and mechanical ingenuity.
