Henri Nestlé, the German-born Swiss confectioner who founded the company that later became Nestlé, died on 07/07/1890 at the age of 75 in Glion, Switzerland. Although some confusion occasionally appears regarding the date, 10/08/1814 was his birth date, not the date of his death. Nestlé was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and became widely known for developing infant cereal products during the 19th century, helping establish one of the world’s best-known food businesses.
Henri Nestlé spent much of his later life in Switzerland after building his business reputation through food production and nutritional products. He is particularly associated with the creation of “Farine Lactée,” an infant food introduced in the 1860s that gained recognition for helping nourish babies who could not be breastfed. His company expanded steadily during his lifetime and later evolved into the multinational corporation now known as Nestlé.
On 07/07/1890, Henri Nestlé reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack at his home in Glion, a village overlooking Lake Geneva near Montreux. Following his death, he was buried at Territet Cemetery in Montreux, Switzerland. His surname remained attached to the company brand long after his passing, and the business continued expanding internationally during the decades that followed.
