Deaths of Andy and Chaia King

Andy King, the son of legendary broadcaster Larry King, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 65 on July 28, 2020, due to a heart attack. Larry King adopted Andy during his marriage to Alene Akins, Andy's mother, in the early 1960s. Tragically, just weeks later, on August 20, 2020, Larry's daughter Chaia King died at 51 after a brief battle with lung cancer. The loss of both children within such a short span deeply affected Larry. In a heartfelt statement, Larry expressed his grief: "It is with sadness and a father's broken heart that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King and Chaia King. Both of them were good and kind souls and they will be greatly missed. Losing them feels so out of order. No parent should have to bury a child." At the time, Larry was also recovering from a near-fatal stroke he had suffered in May 2019, making this period exceptionally challenging for him.
