The Southern Cross NEXT cable system officially entered service in July 2022, marking a significant advancement in global connectivity between the United States and Australia. This state-of-the-art undersea cable system enhances the existing Southern Cross Cable infrastructure, providing improved bandwidth and reliability for users across the Pacific region. Notably, the Southern Cross NEXT includes a dedicated 234-mile (377 km) Kiritimati Branch, which extends connectivity to the eastern part of Kiribati, specifically Kiritimati Island, utilizing one fiber pair. In addition to its primary connections to the US and Australia, the cable system also links to key locations in the South Pacific, including Samoa, Fiji, and New Zealand. This expansion is expected to facilitate better internet access, support economic growth, and enhance communication capabilities for the regions served, ultimately contributing to a more interconnected world. #mooflife #mof #MomentOfLife #SouthernCrossNext #UnderseaCable #GlobalConnectivity #PacificRegion #FiberOpticNetwork
