InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is a luxury hotel brand established by Juan Trippe, the founder of Pan American World Airways. The brand was created to cater to the growing demand for upscale accommodations for international travelers. Trippe envisioned a hotel chain that would provide a consistent and high-quality experience for guests, reflecting the luxury and service associated with air travel at the time. The first InterContinental hotel opened in 1946, marking the beginning of a global expansion that would see the brand become synonymous with luxury hospitality. Over the years, InterContinental has grown significantly, becoming a part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, a UK-based company, in 1998. As of early 2023, there are 208 InterContinental hotels operating worldwide, serving a diverse clientele ranging from business travelers to vacationers seeking premium accommodations.
