On 1 April 1992, Sanford, L.P. filed a Canadian trademark application for the ESTERBROOK name. Canadian trademark application no. 702204 covered “writing instruments and accessories, namely, markers,” placing the historic Esterbrook name once again on products within the writing-instrument category. The application was subsequently approved and advertised in 1994, leading to Canadian registration no. TMA436754 on 9 December 1994.
