In the early years of the 20th century, we continued to develop the international market for Esterbrook steel pens while maintaining our manufacturing base in Camden, New Jersey. This expansion built on a distribution network already established by the end of the 19th century, when contemporary accounts recorded Esterbrook pens being sold across the Americas and in European markets including Britain and Germany. Camden History The Camden works remained at the centre of production as demand increased. Surviving catalogues and trade material from the period document an extensive range of steel nibs designed for different forms of handwriting, commercial work, education, lettering and drawing. The Pen Collectors of America archive, for example, records an Esterbrook booklet on steel-nib manufacture from around 1900 and a catalogue dating from approximately 1890–1917. pencollectorsofamerica.org International distribution became an established part of the business. Later historical accounts of the Camden works described Esterbrook's business as international in scope, while period advertising and surviving material also document a presence in the British market. The company's large range of specialised nibs allowed Esterbrook pens to serve everyday writing as well as educational, business and specialist applications in markets outside the United States
