The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids on Cadbury India Ltd premises located in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh as part of an investigation into allegations of corruption. The CBI filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the company, claiming that Cadbury conspired with central excise officials to obtain a factory license in Himachal Pradesh. The investigation revealed that this conspiracy allegedly took place over a period of time, specifically between 2009 and 2011. During this period, Cadbury is said to have availed itself of excise benefits amounting to approximately Rs 241 crore for its new manufacturing unit in the region. This incident highlights the ongoing scrutiny of corporate practices in India, particularly concerning compliance with regulatory frameworks and the ethical conduct of businesses in their dealings with government officials.
