Asha Bhosle, born Asha Mangeshkar, was born on 08/09/1933 in the village of Goar near Sangli in present-day Maharashtra, India. She was the daughter of renowned Marathi stage actor and classical singer Dinanath Mangeshkar and Shevanti Mangeshkar. Asha was born into the musically inclined Mangeshkar family, which later became one of the most influential families in Indian music and cinema. Her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar, went on to become one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, while her siblings Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, and Meena Khadikar also pursued careers connected to music and the arts.
