Anthropic introduced Claude 2.1 on November 21, 2023, as an upgraded version of Claude 2. The update focused on making Claude more reliable, accurate, and capable of handling demanding professional tasks.
One of the biggest improvements was its 200,000-token context window, allowing Claude to process very large documents and lengthy conversations. Anthropic also introduced improvements to tool use, allowing Claude to interact with external functions and systems more effectively.
Claude 2.1 also significantly reduced the model’s tendency to produce incorrect information compared with Claude 2. This made it particularly useful for tasks such as document analysis, research, coding, summarization, and business workflows.
