Early on 29/03/2026, joint U.S. and Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted a wharf in Bandar Khamir, a port city in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province near the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media, including IRNA, reported that the strike hit a quay area of the port, triggering explosions and damage to maritime infrastructure. The attack occurred as part of continued operations in the conflict that began on 28/02/2026, which has included repeated strikes on coastal facilities and transport hubs across southern Iran. According to Iranian reports, at least five people were killed and four others were injured in the strike. Some coverage indicated that vessels moored at the wharf were damaged or destroyed, while emergency services responded at the port following the explosions. The location of Bandar Khamir, west of Bandar Abbas and close to the Strait of Hormuz shipping lanes, placed the strike within a strategically sensitive maritime corridor used for regional trade and energy transport. The incident was reported alongside other exchanges on the same day, including retaliatory missile activity and additional air operations across Iran. The 29 March strike formed part of continued targeting of coastal infrastructure and logistics nodes in southern Iran during the final days of March, as hostilities expanded across multiple provinces and maritime zones.
